what’s that one thing that brings excitement to your life? I am sure, travelling is something that is in everyone’s bucket list. For everyone like me, who is stuck in the 9 to 6 job, has to take a break from their perpetual life.We must explore the beautiful world around us. India is beautiful country with so much to explore. Last month I decided for a weekend escape and planned to visit Rishikesh, as it is one of the best River Rafting places known near by Delhi. Once I decided the destination, I started looking for the best travel and tour company with which I could go ahead. After doing some research, I came across a Guru-gram based Travel Company called – “Unite-Strangers” which has an entirely unique and different concept of taking all strangers on a trip together to Rishikesh this time.
Why I choose Unite-Strangers
well, we all mostly travel with our families, friends and relatives. Of course we all love our friends and family the most. But why not, if getting a change then go on a trip where we don’t know any one. This was my going to be my first ever Solo- Trip in India, and I wanted to have an entirely different experience.“Unite-Strangers” says – You are not alone”. They believe in bringing all unknown people together with similar skill set and interest so that they can have two most memorable days of there life.
The basic idea behind this whole concept of Unite-Strangers is to :
a). Give a lifetime experience.
b). Boost Network.
c). Give it a Go.
d). Exploring skill.
My Journey towards the Serenity
so, Friday was the day, when we were suppose to start from Gurugram Sector -47 at around 10 p.m . The common point address was shared with us beforehand. My husband, being a typical husband (wink) was constantly calling me to know weather I have reached the right place and how are the people around me. Well, while I was in UBER, I had the same feeling with butterflies in my stomach thinking what kind of people I am gonna travel with. But let, me tell you, the minute I reached the venue, there was a office boy from the team of Unite-Strangers sent to receive me. I met everyone over their, and in a tenure of 15- 20 minutes they made me feel quite comfortable and I realized there and then, that it’s going to be fun- filled journey.
So, finally the journey began at around 11 p.m after all the travelers arrived at the same common point. The most exiting part was that there were not only youngsters in the group. We too had 3 old age people (age between 55-60 ) travelling with us. Isn’t that interesting? The moment we were all seated in the bus, the crew member got us all introduced to each other.
The best part was that the crew had a singer+ guitarist with them, who took the lead and started the introduction session. We were given chits, and asked to write a character name which we ever thought to become in our childhood. I was quite exited about it! I took minute and wrote:
“Main Madhuri Dixit ban na chahti thi”!
iknow, this sounds quite filmy, but it’s true. Like me, all other traveler’s wrote what they wanted to become in their life, but we were told not to share it at that moment of time. We all handed over our chits to the singer come- Anchor for the trip.
The journey began and me with a bunch of young blood got seated our self at the end of the bus. It was so much of fun to play cards with them. Half of the journey got covered like that itself. It was early morning around 5 A.M, when we reached “Haridwar – Har Ki Pauri”. The perfect sunrise. We all got fresh & up there and enjoyed our early morning “Masala Chai”. The view was breathtaking. Such a early morning bliss it was.
Haridwar isn’t just about pilgrimage, for there’s a lot more to discover. The place where you can sit near the bank of Gangas. Looking at the ripples of the Ganges and listening the gushing music of water.
“Taking a dip into the water to add more freshness to your life!”
The best way to reach Haridwar is to catch a bus from Delhi (State bus from Anand Vihar or private luxury Volvo from Old Delhi) , it will take you almost 5 hours to reach.
These buses will cost you around Rs.540- Rs.550/- from New Delhi to Haridwar.
In case you are planning a stay at Haridwar, I would suggest you must go for a room that gives you the view of the river, rather than hotels near the bus stand. Har-ki-Pauri has a series of hotel, according to your pocket.
we had a chance to witness the early morning Aarti. The evening and the morning Aarti is a must at Har-Ki-Pauri. The traditional way of worshiping Goddess Ganga will definitely cast a spell on you. The chant and the sound of Aarti creates a different Aura altogether. Thousand of people from all over the world, chanting in their own tunes.
If you are a foodie, then Haridwar won’t disappoint you…Puri-Halwa, Chole bhature and Kheer, Gulab Jamun, Rasmalai…it’s a paradise of sweet-tooth folk.
After seeing the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti, we headed towards the Rishikesh. We reached our destination in the next 45 minutes. The view from the hill top was awe stuck.
Camp Hideaway – Rishikesh
my only concern was while looking for any Travel company was to get the best Camp. The whole credit of choosing the right Camp goes to Unite-Strangers. Camp Hideaway is located on the bank of River Hyule (Tributary of Ganges). It is just perfect for all Adventure activity, Team building activity, and wellness holiday destination for any season round the year. You can sure of sighting great Wild Life around Camp Hideaway while driving around late in the evening or early mornings. A visit to the revered Hindu Shrine, Neelkhant Mahadev Temple is another great pick and is less than 8 KM from the camp.
camp Hideaway is designed in such a way that it promotes Outdoor Management Training Programs, Management games, Adventure Sports, such as white water rafting, trekking, rock climbing, flying fox etc. The motto is to preserve the nature in it’s purest form and give it to the travelers they can get nowhere.
